1) Will my health insurance cover this?
Because different plans vary, it is best to call your company and inquire about your specific benefits for outpatient mental health treatment. I am a participating provider in Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Harvard Pilgrim and some AllWays Health Partners plans. When you call your insurance company, please make note of your deductible, as well as co-payments. Nantucket Family Counseling's private pay fee is $150 per session, payable at the time of the appointment.
2) What will my co-payments be?
There are many differences with each individual plan, so it is always best to check with your insurance company before your first appointment. You are responsible for any deductible or copayment not covered by your insurance, at the time of the visit. This office does not make it a practice of billing after the service. We accept cash, checks or Venmo (@nantucketcounseling).
3) How many sessions will I need?
Great question! This will depend on your particular issues and the progress you are able to make. Some people commit to come weekly at first; others can only make it every two or three weeks. Because my approach is direct and oriented to rapid results, my treatment time is usually brief and effective. And as always, you are very welcome to come back if you need to.
4) How long are the sessions?
Our meetings are scheduled to last fifty minutes. I make every effort to stay on schedule and be ready for our appointment on time. If you are late to a session, we will still need to end on time.
5) Is there a waiting list?
Not only will I make every effort to get back to you as soon as possible, I will do my best to see you within a day or two of your contacting me.
6) How do I make an appointment?
Feel free to call or text me directly at (508) 680-6974. If I am not able to answer, I do have confidential voice mail and check it frequently. Please leave a message and I will get back to you shortly. You may call me on evenings and weekends; often this is the best time to reach me. Because therapy requires concentration and accuracy on my part, my last scheduled appointment is at 4:00 p.m.
7) Are our sessions confidential?
Absolutely. Under no circumstances will I disclose any information regarding you to anyone, even with your written consent. For your protection, I do not make it a common practice to communicate with schools, attorneys, employers, disability insurances or law enforcement/social service agencies. Please understand that I will not accept court ordered cases, because this office will not share information.
8) I am only on the island in the summer; can I still keep in touch?
Of course! I offer telehealth sessions for continuity of care.
